types of yoga
- Vinyasa
Series of energetic, flowing, linked postures to strengthen and tone muscles. - Gentle Hatha Yoga
Active yoga method emphasizing correct form, alignment, breath, and relaxation. - Yoga for Strength and Endurance
A more challenging and athletic yoga practice that focuses on building strength and endurance. - Hot Yoga
Has the same inner focus that is the core of yoga, but in an exceptionally warm room. Heat brings benefits: sweat is a healthy vehicle for cleansing and detoxifying the entire body. The high heat also aids in increasing flexibility of muscles. Hot Vinyasa is designed to purify, rejuvenate and invigorate.
- Bring water bottle (no ice), towel, and your own mat.
- You must consider yourself fairly fit with normal blood pressure and be near your healthy weight to attend the Hot Vinyasa classes. Contact Kathy Therber at (812) 342-7627 or ktherber@hotmail.com if in doubt or to learn more.
- Easy Does It Yoga
Receive the benefits of yoga with gentle and slow movement. Most of this class is performed seated or lying down to strengthen, stretch, realign, and open the body. Revitalize and renew without pushing and straining. Plenty of time is allowed to modify postures to suit a variety of body types and varying degrees of activity. Steady as you go. - Yoga Basics
This is an all level class. Feel your entire body awaken as the breath guides you through the poses. We will incorporate pranayama (breath work) and deep relaxation/meditation into the class that will awaken your body, mind, and spirit. Please bring your own mat and a light blanket and plan on exploring yoga in a fun and nurturing environment! - Metta Meditation (Loving-kindness meditation)
In the practice of Metta meditation, one silently recites specific words and phrases in order to invoke a "boundless warm-hearted feeling." It can have the immediate benefit of sweetening and changing negative patterns of the mind.
Note:If you are recovering from an injury or suffering from pain, a one-on-one class can be arranged to determine how yoga can be part of your recovery.
